In September 2001, the Maritime Centerís skipjack F.C. Lewis Jr. was moved 100 meters upriver to a site under the MD Bus 404 bridge. At this protected site, the vessel will be restored and preserved under the guidance of master shipwright Haro Oberink.
Repairs to Lewis are as, work being done on the skipjack City of Crisfield at CBMM.
The work progressed with the assistance of OHTMC volunteers while contractors continued with reconstruction of the adjacent Joppa Wharf.
Preservation was completed in December 2002.
Lewis will serve as a landside exhbit on the Joppa Wharf complex.
