Restoration of the Skipjack 'City of Crisfield' at CBMM, Fall 2001

The skipjack City of Crisfield is undergoing extensive repairs and reconstruction at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, Maryland. The work is subsidized through a grant from the “Save Our Skipjacks” program of the state of Maryland, which seeks to keep active the remaining skipjacks of the oyster dredging fleet of the Chesapeake Bay.

Repairs similar to those shown here will be done on the Old Harford Town Maritime Center’s skipjack F.C. Lewis Jr. Lewis is no longer a working oyster dredger but will serve the public as a landside exhibit that is part of the historic Joppa Wharf complex in West Denton, Maryland.
