Waterfront, Museum, and
Travelling Exhibits

The Choptank River Heritage Center presents several exhibits that teach about river trade, agriculture, and small-town life on the Choptank and Tuckahoe Rivers.

The Centerís most ambitious exhibit is the Joppa Wharf transportation museum.  The reconstruction of the 19th century steamboat wharf was completed in late 2003.  The museum is open April 1 - October 31.

An interesting component of the renewed Joppa Wharf waterfront in West Denton is the skipjack F.C. Lewis Jr. Lewis will be part of a land-side exhibit that illustrates life aboard skipjacks as oyster dredgers and river traders.

The Center also sponsors a travelling exhibit that highlights river trade and the Choptank and Tuckahoe Rivers Water Trail.
